Tender goodness from the poems by Homer inspired the guitar quartet of the same name from Switzerland and 20 musicians from all over the world. Music collage which is called “EOS Variations” will be performed in “The House of Music” on the 6th of May — the final day of the music festival “Guitars world”.

The matter is that in year 2008 the best guitar quartet of Europe “EOS Guitar quartet” (Switzerland) celebrates 20 years of its musical activity. On the occasion they asked musicians from all over the world, representing different musical styles, to write tiny compositions. Paco de Lucia, John Maclaflin and other famous knights of guitar (altogether there are 20 musicians from 15 countries) took part in this project.
But this isn’t all. The 11th festival is going to visit the famous Los Angeles Guitar Quartet which is called by experts “the best in the world”. The repeated winner of “Grammy Award” – LAGQ is famous for the ability of imitating almost all the musical instruments and effects with the help of their cords made of nylon. The performance of both quartets one can watch on the 5th of June at “The Philharmonic Society’s concert hall”. The performance’s name is “The Best Quartets of the World” which is quite suitable in this case.

The citizens of Kaluga are first people who will see the performance of a new guitar super project “Russian Guitar Trio” which is going to take place on the 4th of June in the context of “The Festival Jam”.

Wonderful guitar players such as Ivan Smirnov, Roman Miroshnichenko and Vadim Chebanov joined their efforts in creation of this acoustic guitar trio. Roman Miroshnichenko was asked about music which is going to be performed by the trio at the festival and here is his answer: “It is easy to guess that we took for the example the legendary trio which consists of Paco de Lucia-John Maclaflin- El Di Meola. However Ivan and me said unanimously that we are not going to remake the hits of the album which is called “Friday night in San-Francisco”. We will prefer to play extemporization music from Ivan’s and my repertory.

Everyone is in the know that the legendary jazz guitar player of the world, the founder of “fusion” music – John Maclaflin (Great Britain) will perform on the 2nd of June — the day of the opening of the guitar festival in “The Philharmonic Society’s concert hall”. The admirers of the great guru will hear the premiere of the album which is called “Industrial Zen”. This concert will be the final of Maclaflin’s Europe Tour altogether with the band “4th Dimension”. And do you know that the great Maclaflin arrives to Russia only for three days (from the 1st to the 3rd of June) to give the only concert in Kaluga. Last time John visited Russia in 2004 with “Remember Shakti” project.
